Meeting Location
The meeting will take place in the West half of the Berkeley Lab site, in buildings 15, 50, 59, 70A, and 91. Please see the conference map below:
Site Access for Participants
If you do not have an active, valid Berkeley Lab employee or affiliate badge, you will need to follow our instructions for accessing the site. All registered on-site participants have been added to the approved guest access list for August 14-16. All guests received a site access QR code via email from Berkeley Lab site access. Be prepared to show this code on your mobile device or a paper print-out. Be prepared to show government-issued ID such as a driver’s license or passport for verification when entering the Gate.
Parking and Shuttles
Parking near the event is limited, and we encourage all who are able to use the shuttle system, or to bike or carpool.
Satellite parking is available at the Lawrence Hall of Science lot, for an hourly fee. We will run a shuttle with service to and from the Lawrence Hall of Science lot during the morning registration period (7:15-8:15 am) on Thursday and Friday, and return trips to the satellite lot on Thursday (6:30-7:15 pm) and Friday (5:30-6:15 pm). The special shuttle runs to/from the Building 50 auditorium where the conference registration table is set up.
Meeting participants may ride the Berkeley Lab Shuttle from downtown Berkeley, Rockridge, etc. Please see this page for more information: https://commute.lbl.gov/service/shuttle-buses/ Guests may show their Lab access QR code to board the shuttle.
Several parking lots in downtown Berkeley have close proximity to the Berkeley Lab Blue shuttle, including the Oxford garage at 2165 Kittredge Street which is near the Blue line shuttle stop at Allston and Shattuck. Blue line map and schedule are available here: https://commute.lbl.gov/resource/shuttle-buses/maps-routes-schedules/blue-route/ A list of Berkeley city parking lots is available here: https://berkeleyca.gov/city-services/parking/parking-garages-and-lots
Meeting participants who are staying at the Guest House should park in the Guest House parking lot near building 23.
Lab employees and affiliates with parking privileges on site are encouraged to park close to building 67 and ride the shuttle or walk if you are able.
We have reserved a few assigned parking spots for our meeting sponsors, caterers, invited speakers who have short timelines related to flights, and those requiring special accommodations.
If you have a need for an accommodation related to parking, please reach out to Kristen Granados kgranados@lbl.gov.
Guests Enter at Blackberry Gate
Any meeting participants without an employee or affiliate badge arriving by rideshare or personal vehicle should enter at Blackberry Gate on the West side of the Lab site. Our large site has one formal street address, and sometimes GPS systems can land you at a Gate reserved for badged employees and affiliates. Please note that Hearst Avenue meets Highland Place near the Blackberry Gate entrance, which is straight up the hill via Hearst which turns into Cyclotron Road.
COVID-19 Controls
Berkeley is currently experiencing low levels of COVID-19 infections. Face coverings are optional, and eating and drinking are permitted in conference spaces. Frequent hand washing is encouraged. Face coverings will be provided at the registration table for those who wish to use them. Hand sanitizer will be available near refreshment stations.
